Fix: Microsoft Store Error Code 0x803f8001

Soon after updating your Windows to the latest build, you may encounter error code 0x803f8001 when updating certain apps from the Microsoft Store.

This is a quite common issue and can be fixed with few troubleshooting steps that I am going to discuss in today’s article.

How To Fix Error Code 0x803f8001?

Follow all the solutions given here until you can fix the Microsoft Store error code 0x803f8001.

Fix 1: Verify Your Account

To fix Microsoft error 0x803f8001 first verify your account. Follow the steps mentioned below to do so:

Step 1: Press Win + I hotkeys on your keyboard to open Settings.

Step 2: Click on the Accounts section and from the right panel, click on the Verify option.

Wait till the process gets finished. If you are still getting the error code after this, move on to our next solution.

Fix 2: Run The Windows Store Apps Troubleshooter

Run Windows Store apps troubleshooter to fix problems that may prevent the store apps from working properly.

Follow the guidelines mentioned below:

  • Click on the Start Menu And Select Settings.
  • Open the Update & Security section and then select Troubleshoot option.

  • Click on Additional Troubleshooters from the right-side panel.

  • Next, click on Windows Store apps and Run the troubleshooter as shown in the picture below.

Check if the store papas are working properly.

Fix 3: Reset Microsoft Store

Try resetting Microsoft Store and check if this fixes 0x803f8001 Windows Store error.

Follow the process to clear cache and reset it before re-registering the store:

  • Go to the Start Menu and enter CMD in the search box.
  • Run Command Prompt as administrator to open an elevated Command Prompt.

Try running Deployment Image & Servicing management or DISM scan for repairing the corrupted system files because these files may be the reason behind Microsoft error 0x803f8001.

Fix 5: Use PowerShell For Re-Registering Windows Store

If there is a communication failure with the servers then also you may get Microsoft Store error 0x803f8001.

Re-register the Windows Store using PowerShell if other steps do not work for you.

For this:

  • Go to the Windows Start menu and then enter Windows PowerShell.
  • Right-click on Windows PowerShell and run it as administrator.

Wait for the command to run. Then, exit the PowerShell window. If you further get Microsoft error 0x803f8001, move on to the next solutions.

Fix 6: Enable The Location Service

Enable the location service from Windows settings. For many users this fixed 0x803f8001 Windows Store.

So, follow the steps and enable the location service:

  • Click on the Windows Start button and select Settings.
  • Click on the Privacy option.

  • From the App permissions section in the left pane, select the Location option.

  • Turn on the toggle for Location access on this device.

  • Exit the Settings window and try updating or downloading apps from Windows Store. See if you are getting any further errors.

Fix 7: Update Windows

If there were bugs in your previous update then this can be the reason for 0x803f8001 Windows Store.

To fix the problem, update your Windows to the latest build.

Check how to update Windows:

  • Open Settings and click on the Update & Security option.
  • From the left panel select Windows Update and then click on Check for updates.
