How To Fix Path Of Exile Latency Spikes?

Many MMOARPG fans consider Path of Exile to be better than Diablo 3. POE is famous for its flexibility and you get lots of customizable options. But sometimes your game may encounter lag spikes due to a number of reasons.

Follow this extensive guide to resolve POE lag spikes ASAP with some handy solutions!

Fix 1: Check The System Specs

First of all, check if your system meets the recommended specs for the game. Here is a list of the specs:

OS: Windows 10

Processor: Quad core 3.2GHz x64-compatible

Memory: 16 GB RAM

Graphics: NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 1050 Ti or ATI Radeon™ RX560

DirectX: Version 11

Network: Broadband Internet connection

Storage: 40 GB available space

Additional Notes: Solid state storage is recommended

Fix 2: Use Gateway Closest To Your Location

To fix Path Of Exile latency spikes, choose the gateway that is nearest to your location. For this, go to the client log-in menu and then connect to the nearest server.

Check if your network is still lagging. If yes, launch an elevated Command Prompt (run as administrator).

Enter the following commands and hit the Enter button after each command.

ipconfig /flushdns

netsh winsock reset catalog

ipconfig /release

ipconfig /renew

After finishing the process, give your Windows a fresh restart.

Fix 3: Tweak The Graphics Settings

Try lowering your graphics settings when Path Of Exile lags. This is going to make a drastic difference. Check the game requirements and adjust the graphics settings accordingly.

Fix 4: Disable Your Firewall

If the above-mentioned process fails to resolve your issue, check if your firewall is the instigator. Windows defender firewall can become overprotective and interfere with POE.

So, choose to turn off Windows Firewall for the time being.

Go to the search menu and then enter windows defender Firewall in the box. Select Windows Defender Firewall from the options and open it.

Now you will get the option in the left panel to Turn Windows Defender Firewall On Or Off as shown in the picture below.

Select the Turn off Windows Defender Firewall (not recommended) option in both Private and Public network settings.

Fix 5: Update The Graphics Driver

To fix the path of exile lag, update the outdated graphics driver. For updating your outdated graphics driver check the steps mentioned below:

Open the Run dialog box by pressing the Win + R hotkeys. Next, enter devmgmt.msc in the box and then press the Enter button.

Expand the Display Adapters section and locate your graphics driver. Now find the graphics driver and right-click on it. From the options choose the Update Driver option.

From the next pop-up window, click on Search automatically for drivers option and Windows will begin to search for the latest available drivers.

After installing the latest drivers, restart your system. Now check if you can play the game smoothly.
