What To Do When Safari Won’t Connect To Internet
Here are the solutions you need to follow to solve this issue on your Apple device. Follow all the solutions until you are able to fix it.
1) Check The Internet Connection
When Safari can’t connect to the internet, the first thing you need to check if the internet connection is working or not. If your Apple device is not connected to the internet, or if the internet is slow or down, then you will need to sort those out first.
Especially if you see error messages like “Safari cannot open the page because your iPhone is not connected to the internet” or something similar for Mac.
If you are using a Wi-Fi connection, you can connect to other devices and check if the internet is working on them.
Same with an ethernet connection. Connect another device with the ethernet and check. If you find that your ethernet is not working, read this article and learn how to fix it.
2) Check The Website URL
If Safari fails to open a particular website or URL that you are copy-pasting on the address bar, make sure that the URL is correct. It can also be the website’s issue. Check if the website is authentic and opens on other devices.

3) Disable Content Blocker On Your Safari
The content blocker extension on Safari stops malicious websites from opening. This can be a great tool, but sometimes it may misjudge a website as malicious and stop it from opening. If this happens then you will have to disable Content Blocker from Safari settings.
4) Update Your Device
If you are using an outdated iPhone or Mac, first update them and then see if the issue persists. It is possible that Safari can’t connect to the internet because the devices are outdated.
Once you update your Mac or iPhone check if the issue persists. If your device is already up to date, then skip this solution.
5) Clear Safari App Data
If Safari won’t connect to the internet on your iPhone, then try clearing the cache and data. This will also clear the Safari history on your iPhone.
Clearing Safari’s cache and app data is easy and can be done from the Settings app in your iOS. Here is how you can do it:
- Open the Apple Settings and click on the Safari option.
- Click on the Clear History and Website Data option next.
- Confirm the prompt and wait for the task to finish.
After Safari app data is cleared, check if the internet is working on it now. If it still doesn’t, try the next solution.
6) Disable Firewall on Mac
Sometimes the native Firewall in your macOS can prevent certain websites from opening if it considers them malicious. When this happens, all you can do is disable the Firewall and check if the webpage opens. Here is how you can disable the Firewall on Mac:
- Click on the Apple icon and select System Preferences.
- Locate the Security and Privacy option and open it.
- Select the Firewall option and click on the Lock icon.
- Enter the password and select the Turn Off Firewall option. This will disable the Firewall on your Mac.
Once the Firewall is disabled, check if Safari is connecting to the internet. If you have any third-party antiviruses installed on your Mac, disable them also. If still Safari is not connecting to the internet, then try the next solution.
7) Reset Network Settings On Your iPhone
If still Safari doesn’t connect to the internet on your iPhone, try resetting the network settings and see if it fixes the issue. Wrong network settings won’t allow your iPhone or Safari to be specific to connect with the internet.
Here is how you can reset network settings on iPhone:
- Open the Apple Settings again and select the General option.
- Locate the Reset option and tap on it.
- Select the Reset Network Settings option next.
- Confirm the prompt and wait for the resetting to finish.
After the network settings reset on your iPhone, Safari should be able to connect to the internet.
