How To Swim In Elden Ring In 2022 [IS IT POSSIBLE]

There are large water bodies and islands in the Lands Between.

And anyone that has unlocked a large part of the map will find separated islands.

Unfortunately, trying to swim to these islands leads to a frustrating fall down the infinity with the inevitable ‘You Died’ screen that all souls players are highly familiar with.

But, is it possible to swim in Elden Ring? Keep reading to learn more.

Can You Swim In Elden Ring?

No, you cannot swim in Elden Ring. In no way the players can remain alive in deep water outside the land boundaries.

This has been a trend in almost all Souls like games from FromSoftware, with the exception being Sekiro.

Sekiro is the first FromSoftware game that introduced swimming, and seeing it was their last released game before Elden Ring, many of us assumed to have swimming as a feature in Elden Ring.

But nonetheless, FromSoftware decided to avoid that, even though it would have been epic fighting sea monsters while swimming, a dream that we can still count on in the future.

Will Swimming Be Ever Possible In Elden Ring?

At the time of publishing, we haven’t yet found a mod that actually makes swimming a possibility.

With some of the insane mod work going around with Elden Ring, like adding the Sekiro sword parry, there is still hope that players might be able to swim in the lands between.

Also, with the news of a new DLC or possibly Elden Ring 2, FromSoftware might decide to introduce swimming as a feature.

How To Cross Water In Elden Ring?

So, if you cannot swim in Elden Ring, how are you supposed to travel to the different available islands?

Using in-game traveling options obviously.

Teleporters are the most common ways for users to travel between different lands.

Also some places can only be accessed after finishing the Story line to some extent, like [SPOILER ALERT] unlocking Farum Azula, the land of dragons, can only be accessed in full after killing the Fire Giant.

Here is a more detailed description on how to cross the water in Elden Ring.

Find Nearby Teleportation:

You can access some of the islands via teleport rings.

So, look for teleportation rings nearby and get through the area.

Look For Dungeons:

Dungeons or caves, tunnels, or catacombs can help to cross the sea and go to another side.

You will find them in Dragon-Burnt Ruins, Coastal Caves, Groveside Cave, Mistwood Ruins, Waypoint Ruins, Murkwater Cave, Stormfoot Catacombs, and Limgrave Tunnels.

Look For Overland Passages:

You can use the horse for Spiritjump andpass over some island.

So, search for huge updrafts and user Torrent to fly there.

You will have to mount on Torrent and jump on the top of the Spirit spring.

This will take you high into the air.

If the above steps do not work for you then it is possible that you do not have access to that particular island.
