Fix: Teredo Is Unable To Qualify Error [Solved]

Teredo networking protocol is used to establish a secured connection between the server and the client.

When you find Teredo is unable to qualify error you will not be able to party chat or use multiplayer gaming on your Xbox live.

When you find Teredo is unable to qualify, here is what to do to fix the problem. Follow the methods as described until you find a suitable solution.

1) Check Your Internet Connection

When you find Teredo is unable to qualify fix, first of all, check if the internet connection requires for Teredo is stable.

To check that follow the steps given below:

  • Open Windows Settings by pressing Win + I keys.
  • Click on the Gaming option as shown below.


  • From the left pane select Xbox Networking and then click on the Fix it option from the right side.


2) Check If Any VPN Service Is Blocking Teredo

Sometimes VPNs may also cause connectivity issues for Teredo. To fix that remove any VPN adapter from your system.

To do so follow the steps given below:

  • Right-click on the Start button and click on Device Manager.


  • Go to the View tab and click on Show hidden devices.


  • Next, click on Network Adapters and check if there is anything like TAP-Windows Adaptor V9.
  • Right-click on the adapter and click on Uninstall Device option.

Now check if the Teredo error is solved. Otherwise, move on to the next solution.

3) Enable Teredo From Registry

If Teredo is disabled in the registry then you will find Teredo unable to qualify.

So, here is how to fix Teredo that is unable to qualify by modifying the registry. Follow the given steps:

  • Enter CMD in the Windows Search box and right-click on Command Prompt option. Choose Run as administrator.


  • Input the following command in the elevated CMD window and hit the Enter button to run the command:
reg query HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\iphlpsvc\Teredo


  • If Teredo is not enabled in the registry then you will see the following output along with some information:
Type REG_DWORD 0x4
  • To enable Teredo in Registry enter the following command and press the Enter button.
netsh interface Teredo set state type=default 


4) Check If IP Helper Service Is Running

You will be able to use Teredo if the IP service is running.  If due to any reason, this service has been disabled, you may get Teredo is unable to qualify to fix the error.

To check whether the IP helper service is running follow the steps given below:

  • Press Win + R keys to open the Run utility. Enter services.msc in the command box and press the Enter button.


  • In the services window, scroll down to find IP Helper Next double-click on the service to expand its Properties.


  • Click on the Startup type drop-down menu and select the Automatic option.
  • Next click on the Start button to run the service. Save the changes by clicking on the Ok option.


If you still find the IP service is not running, then go to the next steps:

  • Open the Properties window of IP helper and click on the Dependencies tab.
  • Note down all the components listed there under This service depends on the following system components section.


  • Now get back to the Services window and check that all the components are running.
  • If you find the services disabled, enable them. Maximum times it is the WinHTTP Web Proxy Auto-Discovery Service that creates the problem.
  • Enable IP Helper service once more and see if this has solved the problem.

5) Reinstall Teredo

If you still could not find how to fix the Teredo Xbox app, reinstall it. Follow the steps to do so:

  • Open an Elevated Command Prompt window and run the following command:
netsh interface Teredo set state disable

netsh_interface_Teredo_set_state_disableNow to remove the Teredo driver, follow the steps given below:

  • Open Device Manager and click on the View tab.
  • Next, click on the Show hidden devices option and find Teredo in the Network Adapters section.


  • Right-click on it and select Uninstall Device option.


  • Now restart your device and enter the following command in the Elevated Command Prompt window to re-enable Teredo:
netsh interface Teredo set state type=default


It is advised not to install the Teredo Tunneling Pseudo-Interface adapter manually as it gets automatically reinstalled.
